
Antenatal and Postnatal Care
The community midwife holds clinics regularly at the surgery. Antenatal and Postnatal care are both shared between her and the doctor.
Asthma / Respiratory Clinics
Run weekly by our practice nurse.
Child Health Surveillance and Immunisations
The doctor and health visitors run child health surveillance clinics giving support and advice as well as immunisations and routine medical examinations to our under 5's. Baby Clinic takes place at Cwmbran clinic, Tudor Road.
Contraceptive Services
Full contraceptive services are offered during surgery hours. The doctors are happy to give general advice on contraception and are able to fit caps, implants and coils as well as care for ladies taking the contraceptive pill and emergency contraception.
Diabetes Clinics
Run Weekly by our practice nurse.
Health Checks
These are available for all new patients over 5 years of age. This check will include:
A recall system is currently available in Gwent. This recalls ladies every three years. The practice nurse will carry out most routine smears.
Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Management
We try to ensure patients who have the following conditions are called to have regular checks to monitor their condition. Respiratory Conditions (Asthma, COPD) , Diabetes, Heart Disease, Epilepsy , Hypothyroidism, Hypertension, Stroke/TIA. Most of these conditions require annual check ups. Your recall letter will clearly indicate what will be done during your appointment. If you have received a letter and find attending a problem (e.g. housebound), then please contact the surgery.
If you do not wish to be recalled for these services, we will require this in writing.
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND ATTENDING WHEN ASKED TO DO SO.

Run by our Practice Nurse.
Influenza and Pneumonia Vaccinations
These are available from October every year.
The influenza vaccination is highly recommended for patients over 65, or with respiratory problems, Diabetes, Heart disease, Stroke related conditions, Pregnant, Kidney Disease etc. Please ring the surgery to make an appointment. Patients who are housebound please give the surgery a ring and we will make arrangements for you.
Minor Accidents
Patients with minor injuries are advised to attend the Royal Gwent Hospital, Accident & Emergency or Panteg Hospital. We do not offer a walk in minor injury service.
Minor Surgery
We perform a variety of minor surgical procedures and also offer injections, which help some patients with arthritic conditions.
Dr Price was a hospital practitioner at the County Hospital. He has a great deal of experience in removal of lesions and plastic procedures. He is trained in lesion recognition and management. He has received close supervision and training at the County Hospital and also attends regular training courses to update his knowledge and skills and to keep abreast of developments. He runs a very successful GP surgery course providing training for GPs in all procedures that can be reasonably performed in the Primary care setting.
Dr Price has also had many reference books on Minor Surgery published.
Non NHS examinations
Medical examinations for special purposes e.g. elderly drivers, pre employment medicals, insurance medicals etc. can be arranged by appointment. A Fee as recommended by the British Medical Association may be payable for these examinations. These are usually carried out on between morning and afternoon surgeries for registered patients only. Please ask the reception staff for more details.
Patient Library
We have an extensive video library at the surgery. Videos dealing with various medical conditions are available for loan by our patients. Please ask the receptionists for details.
